Andy Hernandez is Chief Digital Officer for Regions. In this capacity he is responsible for leading the bank’s digital transformation, which includes digitizing the business to better serve Regions’ customers, providing leadership over the company’s digital strategy, and driving accelerated delivery. His responsibilities include partnering with technology, operations, line of business and support leaders across the enterprise to deliver solutions that meet the emerging digital needs of customers and associates. Hernandez came to Regions in 2014 from BBVA where he was the Director of Multichannel Experience as part of Global Retail Banking in Madrid, Spain. In this role he co-led the strategic definition and global vision of omnichannel experience for the BBVA Group. He also served as the Director of Channel Development for BBVA Compass in the United States with leadership responsibilities for digital, contact center and ATM channels in the Retail Bank. Responsibilities included product innovation, sales, service, user experience, design, channel operations and payments. Prior to joining BBVA, Andy served in a variety of channel, product and distribution roles for Wachovia, Bank of America, SouthTrust, and NCR. At Wachovia, Hernandez was Chief Operating Officer for the General Bank’s Distribution Group in Charlotte. At Bank of America, also in Charlotte, he was a Senior Vice President in the eCommerce group with responsibility for the industry’s largest online payments and transfers business as well as the industry’s largest online deposits business. As Group Vice President and Director of eCommerce at SouthTrust Bank in Birmingham, Hernandez started the eCommerce group, building it from the ground up. Andy began his career at NCR Corporation holding Senior Sales Account Management roles throughout the Southeast, with primary focus on ATMs. He earned a bachelor’s degree with Honors from the University of Florida in Computer & Information Sciences.
Chris Kennedy is SVP, Strategy and Innovation at Regions Bank. Chris leads a team of talented professionals in the development and execution of technology strategic initiatives that drive growth and increase efficiency. With a decade of experience, Chris brings domain experience across Open Banking, cloud transformation and governance, core banking transformation, process improvement and automation, Artificial Intelligence transformation and risk management, and disruptive fintechs. Chris is active in industry organizations focused on new technology and risk management. Chris is co-chair at the Financial Data Exchange (FDX) leading the Corporate Treasury API task force which is working to establish secure open banking data sharing standards for commercial use cases. He is lead co-author for the FDX industry whitepaper, Getting Started with Open Banking and is lead co-editor for the technical follow-on whitepaper. Chris is also a core working group member of the Data & Trust Alliance which has established algorithmic safeguards for AI used for human resources and workforce management.
Chris is passionate about education, learning, mentorship, and development. He is a consulting professor at Duke University, Fuqua School of Business for applied AI and also teaches business modeling and analytics at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Chris received his BS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is a CFA charterholder and is an AWS certified solutions architect.
Ms. Nelson serves as Vice President, Digital Transformation at Regions Bank, where she previously served as a digital strategist. She received her Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Auburn University.
