Mr. Williams received his B. S., cum laude, from The University of Alabama, his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law and a Master of Laws (in Taxation) with honors from The University of Alabama. Mr. Williams is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is a Member and former Director of the Estate Planning Council. He also is listed in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Birmingham Magazine as one of Birmingham’s top attorneys. In addition, he was listed in the “Alabama Top 50” in Super Lawyers Alabama, 2011 edition, and has been named Best Lawyers’ 2012 Birmingham Litigation & Controversy - Tax Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation, a former Chairman of the Tax Section of the Alabama Bar Association, and a former Director of the Federal Tax Clinic (President in 2006). He has served and currently serves on several committees involved in drafting Alabama statutes or amendments to such statutes. He practices in the area of Federal and State taxation with an emphasis on estate planning, business succession, probate, trust and estate administration, tax controversies, employee benefits, and business transactions.
