This timely CLE seminar explores the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its profound implications for the legal profession. Expert speakers will delve into the transformative impact of AI on contract drafting, examining the benefits and risks of AI-driven contract review and drafting tools. The seminar will also tackle the emerging challenges of copyright and patent law in the AI era, as well as the growing concern of deepfakes and AI-generated content. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the complex legal issues surrounding AI and develop practical strategies for navigating this uncharted territory.

Tripp Watson is the founder of The Watson Firm. He is an “Entrepreneur Attorney,” which means that he is an an advocate and counselor to risk-takers. Tripp is one of the only individuals in the county who offers business consulting and legal advice specifically tailored to entrepreneurs of all sizes.  From a family of entrepreneurs, Tripp went to law and business schools with the explicit purpose of opening a firm dedicated to advising aspiring and existing entrepreneurs with high-growth businesses. Laurie Kellogg is an attorney and compliance associate with Protective Life Corporation in Birmingham, AL.  She focuses primarily on advertising compliance, marketing regulations, and managing Protective’s trademark portfolio.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a JD in 2010 and from the University of Notre Dame with a Ph.D. in biogeochemistry in 2008.  Her hobbies include keeping up with technology in artificial intelligence and teaching across multiple disciplines.

Matthew Neely is a native of Highlands, North Carolina, and currently serves as a law librarian at the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library at Cumberland School of Law, where he joined in August 2025. He teaches Advanced Legal Research and contributes to the development of legal scholarship and research services.  Before joining Cumberland, Neely held the position of faculty services and scholarly communications librarian at the Bounds Law Library at the University of Alabama School of Law from 2022 to 2025. Prior to that, he served as a reference librarian at North Carolina Central University School of Law from 2018 to 2022.

Neely earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Western Carolina University. He completed a joint degree program at Samford University, receiving both a Master of Divinity and a Juris Doctor in December 2016. During his time at Samford, he was an editorial board member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and a Caruthers Fellow. He later earned a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington in 2018.  An active member of the professional law library community, Neely currently serves as president of the Law Libraries Association of Alabama and participates on several regional and national committees.
