Christen Butler is a 2014 Graduate of Cumberland School of Law and a 2010 Graduate of Mississippi State University. At Cumberland School of Law, Ms. Butler was a Dean’s Scholarship Recipient. She was also an Associate Editor of the 2012-2013 publications of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and went on to serve as Senior Associate Editor of the 2013-2014 publications. She was a seven time Dean’s List recipient and the 2012-2013 Balch & Bingham/Harold A. Bowron, Jr. Labor and Employment Law Award recipient. Ms. Butler was honored as a Scholar of Merit in Contracts II, Labor Law, Employment Law, Federal Income Tax I, and Wills, Trust, and Estates. Furthermore, she was a member of the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 Cumberland School of Law National Negotiation Team. She served as an at-large member of the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 Black Law Student Association and went on to serve as the 2013-2014 Community Service Chair. Ms. Butler was also honored to be a semi-finalist in the 2012 Donworth Moot Court Competition. She co-authored an article for the 2013 Winter Issue of the Birmingham Bar Bulletin entitled “Is Alabama Ready to Recognize Tortious Interference with an Inheritance?” Ms. Butler was featured as a panelist in an August 2018 B-Metro Article entitled “The Talk: Women & The Law.” She was also was named one of B-Metro’s 2018 Top Women Attorneys. Ms. Butler is a member of the Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations.

Alex Priester, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, graduated from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2020 with her J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation. During her time in law school, she was awarded The University of Alabama Federal Tax Clinic Scholarship and the Justice Janie L. Shores Scholarship.  Ms. Priester received awards for best paper in each of her tax courses including Personal Income Taxation, Capital Gains Transactions, Corporate Transactions, Civil Tax Procedure, and Business and Accounting Ethics.  She was inducted into the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and served as an ambassador for future and incoming students of The University of Alabama School of Law. In addition to her academic studies, Alex served as a member of the Public Interest Student Board and was awarded the Dean’s Community Service Award, the Student Pro Bono Award, and the Order of the Samaritan for her pro bono and law-related volunteer work.

Ms. Shepura earned her B.A. from the University of Georgia and her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, where she served on the Cumberland Law Review.  She practices in the areas of estate planning and administration, probate law, trust law and special needs and elder law.  Ms. Shepura serves on the Board of Advocacy for the Center for Aging at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.  In 2012 she was appointed to the Alabama Family Trust’s Board of Trustees by the Governor of Alabama.  She recently completed dispute resolutions training from the Collaborative Practice Training Institute.  She has been included in the 2015 Edition of the Best Lawyers in America.
