Across the globe, people are living longer than ever before. According to the World Health Organization, by the year 2030, one in six people in the world will be age sixty or older. As our population continues to age, the need for holistic and long-term care focused estate planning is of critical importance for aging and elderly clients. While many assume that Medicaid applicants require little, if any, estate planning because of their necessarily limited assets, many estate planning tools and strategies could help to ensure that these resources, however limited, are preserved to the greatest extent possible to meet the applicant’s additional needs.
