Alabama Hospital Association
Dr. Williamson has served as the President/CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association since November of 2015. Prior to joining the Alabama Hospital Association, he worked in the Alabama Department of Public Health for 29 years, serving as State Health Officer and Director of the Department for the last 23 years. In addition, during the last 3 years of his service, he had the opportunity to assist in efforts to transform Medicaid. Dr Williamson was recognized by his peers with several awards, including the Nathan Davis Award from the American Medical Association, the Child Health Advocate Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Paul W. Burleson Award from the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. In 2016, Dr. Williamson was selected for the Alabama Healthcare Hall of Fame. Dr Williamson received his MD degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed training in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia.
