John Coleman has practiced management-side labor and employment law for over 40 years. A 1978 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, a 1981 graduate of Duke University School of Law, and a 1981-82 law clerk to US Circuit Judge Donald S. Russell, and the 1997-8 Chair of the Alabama State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section, John since 2006 John has been a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and since 2017 a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.   He was rated Chambers Partners’ Labor and Employment Law Band 1, and chosen for LawDragon’s Nation’s 100 Most Powerful Labor and Employment Lawyers and its successor for 15 years, for Best Lawyers in America for over 30 years, and for every edition of SuperLawyers and five times a top 50 Alabama pick. Counsel for clients in precedential labor and employment cases and for client groups in drafting both sets of ADA and FMLA regulations, the 1992 Alabama Workers Compensation Act, and state drug testing rules, he has authored 3 employment law books, over a dozen legal articles, holds two adjunct law positions, and has provided annual Title VII CLE updates since 1985.

Ms. Leonard is a partner with the Birmingham law firm of Heather Leonard, P.C., where she concentrates her practice on labor and employment law, including litigation before the federal and state courts as well as administrative agencies. Her practice embraces a variety of matters relating to wage and hour law, harassment, invasion of privacy and employment discrimination. She is also adjunct faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she teaches mediation and trial advocacy, and serves as an assistant coach for the UAB Mock Trial Team. Ms. Leonard received her B.A. from the University of Kentucky and her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was the Managing Editor for the Law and Psychology Review and a member of the National Moot Court Team. She is a member of the Alabama bar and various state and local bar associations.
