Another year has come and gone, and with it, the courts have tackled a host of old and new issues relevant to the industries of banking and finance. As we make our way through 2024, it is important to take stock of both previous and pending court decisions so that we can be better prepared to approach the disputes that will follow. This seminar and materials provide a summary of key decisions from the past year that could affect financial services companies. Section I discusses decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court. Section II discusses other federal cases, primarily those decided by the Eleventh Circuit. Finally, Section III is dedicated to decisions from the Alabama Supreme Court. The backgrounds, analyses, and impacts of these key cases will also be discussed in the presentation.
