This CLE on neuropsychological evaluations provides an in-depth exploration of the role of neuropsychology in assessing damages in personal injury and disability cases. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of neuropsychology in practice, including the use of standardized tests and assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. The program will cover the administration and interpretation of key neuropsychological tests, as well as the assessment of traumatic brain injury (TBI), including mild, moderate, and severe cases. Participants will learn how to identify potential malingering, understand the impact of various neurological and psychological conditions on daily functioning, and effectively integrate neuropsychological findings into damages assessments, expert testimony, and courtroom presentations.
Dr. Randall Griffith is a clinical psychologist who is board certified in clinical neuropsychology and in private practice in the Birmingham area since 2010. He is licensed in the states of Alabama and Florida. He obtained his Ph.D. from Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School in 2002, and completed a one-year internship at West Virginia University prior to moving to Birmingham, Alabama, where he completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology in the UAB Department of Neurology. Subsequently, he was an assistant professor in the Neurology Department, pursuing research in memory disorders and epilepsy using various neuroimaging techniques.
Dr. Griffith’s clinical practice focuses on assessment of adults with a variety of cognitive issues, including memory disorders, traumatic brain injury, and attention issues. He has participated as a neuropsychologist in the NFL Concussion Settlement since 2016, evaluating retired NFL players for potential benefits as part of the settlement. He has also consulted on various criminal and civil cases in both state and federal courts in Alabama. Outside of work, he enjoys a variety of leisure activities, including music collecting, boating, and spending time with his family.
